Anyway life here is pretty peachy right now, even peachier since lovely Perez Hilton wrote about me on his blog yesterday!!! Woohoo, Don't Cry is now Number 6 in the itunes electronica charts and the song starts hitting radio in The States on 22nd June, then the album gets released 14th July. I have a busy month ahead of me and I am so beyond excited. It was my birthday on Sunday and I have to say if the past 2 days are anything to go by this could be the best year yet...happy happy days. Love to you...and you...and you...and you...xxx ................................................................................................................................. 17th February 2009 Hey lovelies, How are you all? So I haven't messaged you in forever, sorry about that, but it's for a good reason :) Today is THE day that I can officially announce that I signed me a record deal! Oh yes yes! I am so excited... It's with Vagrant Records in the US and they are officially releasing my album, so as we speak it's being mixed and mastered in LA (ha I love how that sounds!) and in June 2009 we get a proper release in North America! It's great as well because I am a huge control freak and they are letting me keep all creative control so it's all kinds of good! The record already went beyond my expectations but now with marketing and distribution behind it things can be sooo much better, I just can't wait to see what my baby of an album can do with the right people (and money!) behind it... Don't Cry is also being released as a single in the spring, the video is finished and is AMAZING...and right now I'm head in the clouds, happy as Larry happy... Thanks so much for all your support...this ride is about to get so much more exciting!!! Oh but that's such a terrible way to introduce this entry because Olivia Broadfield's debut full-length Eyes Wide Open is an electro-pop record that belongs in the no-filler-all-winner category. Unlike some electronic albums where the synthesized part takes the front seat, Eyes Wide Open places the melodies smack right in the center and uses the synthesized sounds as drapings all around it. Listening to this record is like a smooth and memorable ride from start to finish. ................................................................................................................................. 30th December 2008 Howdy kids, Did you all have a good Christmas? I certainly did, and today I dragged myself kicking and screaming into the 21st century, goodbye 5 channel 14 inch CRT TV, hello flatscreen and Wii...oh I am in heaven! Also INDESCRIBABLE has been selected as one of 10 songs for a filmaka.com competition. Film-makers submit pitches for the song and if the song wins it gets played at the freaking Grammies! We're looking for people to get creative, it's so cold here in the UK my brain has frozen and I need your help! I need some merchandise and would love you to send in your designs...T-shirts, mugs, badges...you design it and if you win, we get your design printed up :) We'd also love to see more of your videos, so make me a music video and if you win, we will feature you on myspace/youtube etc. etc. plus if it's super good we may be able to use it as an official video and send it to VH1, MTV etc. The closing date is 5th December, that gives you 8 weeks...so sharpen your pencils, get out your director's chair and errr...start? Well...I have been gone so long as I am hibernating, the weather here is so bad the only option for me is to start gathering nuts and live in a tree until summer returns...the squirrels and hedgehogs have got it so right! In actual true news, I have been busy in the studio and there is a new track up www.myspace.com/oliviabroadfield which is free to download for the next week. "Don't Cry" is also being used on MTV's new hit show "Exiled" so, if you can, watch it on 29th September...10pm CT/ET/PMT...whatever that means... Most excitingly, filming for my new music video starts this weekend, oh hooray! Kurt Nishimura dons his director's cap once more and the storyline he has come up with is truly beautiful...you'll get to see the finished video next month, I can't wait! And that, I think, is everything...actually, there is a whole bunch of secret exciting stuff which I can't tell you about yet but it's GOOD! News news news...right now I am in the scary and exciting stage of talking to labels which is blowing my mind! I have swell managers who are taking good care of me and here's hoping something good comes from it. We also have some more placements coming up and the album is still selling well...I'm sorry this is really boring news, it's early and the caffiene hasn't quite kicked in yet, rendering me dull and lifeless... ................................................................................................................................. 9th May 2008 Ermmm total madness! The Real World aired and my world went insane, as we speak the single is No.2 and the album No.3 in the electronic charts on itunes US...ermmm wtf!?!? Ha I am crazy happy! Thank you thank you if you've been buying it! Keep it up :) xx ................................................................................................................................. 22nd April 2008 Time for more news I feel, there's a lot of it! First up SO excited to announce that VH1, MTVu Freshman and Logo have all added the video to their channels, VH1 starts airing it tomorrow so stay tuned and let me know if you see it! Also The Real World Hollywood and The Bad Girls Club have both picked up "Don't Cry" for their shows. The Real World airs 7th May at 10pm on MTV, it sucks that I don't live in America and don't get to watch it :( What else, what else...oh yes! The album has been officially released in Russia, hello Russian fans!
